We are in a state of constant conflict. The conflict with self. The conflict with others. This could be a product of lack of self-awareness to being left in the wilderness. We are intractably engulfed in the cacophony of our unnatural simulated surrounding.

The quintessential question of life; is life a discovery or an invention?

The answer is equally quizzical.

We are in that perennially quest, we still don’t have the right answer and hence we keep seeking the answer that will take us in the right direction.

I must state with adequate affirmation. Life is more a creation than a mere confinement. We need to be unshackled from the clutches of captivity. The confinement that we keep encountering and not knowing how to explore our path towards a well-rounded successful life.

The elusive definition of “success in life”…the camouflaged question, is it happiness, peace, wealth, health, achievements, accomplishments, name and fame.

It is a secret. It appears classified.

Definition of success, perhaps a crafty combination of all such factors and there is art in combining that craft, just like the cuisine and recipe remains the same but the way we cook and the way we taste differ from one chef to the other master chef and from one food lover to  the other connoisseur of food. We need to spot our space in that spread.

There is a spectrum of choice at our disposal.

We debate.

We dispute.

We force that confrontation on us.

Philosophy acts as guide to life. It helps us reason our unreasonable demands of life. The rigor of daily demand. The pressure of rising expectation. The conundrums of life, we keep getting trapped in the web. It is the exploding conflagration of external negative forces and the internal fiction with our brewing sentiments, the implications are wide and has a deep impacts on our psyche. It helps us rationalize our thoughts against the gravitational forces of life.

We are bombarded with loads of scattered thoughts that make our mind go ballistic. We need mindfulness. The general philosophies of life across the world are quite diverse but it quietly encompasses a universal unanimity of how to cherish the basics and the beauty of life itself, to be naturally close to nature and to nurture our senses and sensibilities.

Philosophies can be broadly defined as a kaleidoscope of our life, existence, culture, values, beliefs, language that artistically combines to form different flavours of life.

Life is blissful. The joy of living lies in enjoying the smaller things in life. Life is simple. We have recklessly complicated our life with the forced induction of the complexity of thoughts. Life’s beauty is in the art of living a simple life and living life that makes us joyfully experience the spectrum of different philosophies of the world. We need to discovery. We need to experiment.

Each philosophy brings a new perspective and different dimension to the way we look at life and the way we build our outlook towards living a much more meaningful life and making us more mindful of how we live our life, after all life is so dear and special to each one of us. We have to keep learning the art of living and we have to keep building the harmony between the heart, mind, body and the soul to embrace the true essence of life and make our life’s journey truly memorable.

Yoga-Meditation (Indian) – The main philosophy of yoga is that body, mind and soul are all one and cannot be separated. It helps us develop balance and happiness. It provides genuine source of joy and peace in life. By doing yoga we awaken our natural healing capacity of our body and mind, clarity of thoughts to inner freedom. This philosophy practices the balance of breath and body fosters an awareness of self and intrinsically connects to the unified world of creation.

In essence it brings equanimity and equilibrium in life to live a life of purpose, peace, happiness and harmony. The foundation of all life in universe is the subtle force of energy the yogis called as “prana”, and these mystical energy flows through our different body part and generates the actions vital to living a life. The practice of this philosophy enables us to cultivate and control our spiritual energy; it reduces or eliminates the accumulation of bad karma and prevents the dissipation of good energy needed to lead a holistic life.

Yin-Yang (Chinese) – It describes as how apparently opposite and contrary forces can be interconnected and interdependent, provide complementary benefits. The principle of Yin and Yang is a fundamental concept in Chinese philosophy and culture in general dating from the third century BCE or even earlier. This principle is that all things exist as inseparable and contradictory opposites, such as female-male, dark-light and old-young.

These duality of life are the essence of creativity and innovation. Everything contains Yin and Yang. They are two opposite yet complementary energies. What does this really mean? Although they are totally different & opposite in their individual qualities and nature, they are interdependent. Yin and Yang cannot exist without the other; they are never separate.  Both create a totality, a complete whole. We look at these things on opposite sides and refrain from drawing the similarities and exploring the new possibilities that is hidden in such contradictions.

Wabi-Sabi (Japanese) – It translate as “embracing the imperfect”, and is centered on acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”. And it encompasses the idea that there is a limitation to perfection and we shouldn’t shy away from exploring the imperfections in life and nature. In the pursuit of perfection, many times in life we have either not started activity nor able to complete the activity which we have started in the demand of achieving perfection. It is said that perfection is required in what we do to achieve excellence and successful people have adopted a perfect recipe to work and approach to life.

The irony is that we learn the art of living from the imperfections of nature and we want to live a skewed life of perfection. This Japanese philosophy of imperfect and incomplete provides a new outlook to life and living. Wabi-Sabi is a Japanese concept with various interpretations but those that resonate deeply are rustic grace and natural splendor and things gain value through use and age.

Friluftsliv (Norwegian) – It translates as “free air life” and it propagates the idea that living outside with the nature is good for our physical and mental health. The beauty of the philosophy is in it’s simplicity of just being outside our confinement with the nature.  It is an ancient Nordic philosophy of outdoor life. It is an ingrained philosophy in Norway and Sweden but relatively unknown to the rest of the world. This philosophy embodies the idea that returning to nature, is returning home.

A stroll in the garden to walk in the park to going for hiking in the forest to exploring a valley, all these activities provides that space outside the office and home enclosure. With the rapid ushering of digital age and we are getting tied to our indoor places in front of the computer and hooked to the virtual space. This is taking a big toll on our health both physical and mental, and this Norwegian phrase provides the much-needed break and the breath of fresh air that is refreshingly inspiring, a change for a better lifestyle and living.

Philosophy is about seeking truth and serving our senses with the beauty of life through embracing the different ways of looking at life and obtaining the elusive answers to the quintessential questions that keeps our mind in a state of agitation.

We strive to migrate from the state of agony to the state of ecstasy. This is a dynamic state, and we need to adapt to that state of constant evolution and it is a process of constant exploration and creative engagement.

We need to douse the fire of negative forces so dominant on us and at the same we need to fire our positives forces lying dormant within us.

This is the fundamental paradox of life which gets reasonably reconciled by these powerful philosophies of the world.

It is about how we embrace such different ways of living our life and empowering ourselves to live a much more meaningful life and become fully mindful of the world around us.
