The floating clouds and shining sun plays hide and seek creating artistry in clear sky…

Like the landscape photography, we can also do the ‘cloudscape’ photography. In fact white clouds are the most striking facets of the blue sky; clouds come with multiple shape and sizes and gradually get into different forms and formation, sketching cloud artistry.
The art in the cloud exemplifies with changing weather or with piercing sun rays, resulting in magical composition.
The movements of clouds are generally so swift and subtle that as a photographer one need to keep a very close eye. The judgment on the foreground or background of the cloud positioning can make a great difference in terms of composition of the picture.
Clouds as subject can either dominant the picture or augment the backdrop when the sun is piercing the cloud…a choice one can exercise based on the type of composition one is looking at the combination of the sun and cloud. Sometime one need to keep the focus on the cloud and make the cloud fit to frame, other time one need to keep the background conspicuous and make the cloud insignificant.
Clouds formation can schematically represent any aspect of nature depicting an outline of a country map to a particular animal to a bird to a monster or a dragon…dragon shaped clouds dot the Bhutan skyline. Interesting clouds and intriguing composition can create cloud photography quite an incredible experience and the picture pretty stunning.
The following twin tips can make or break the cloud composition;
- Polarizing filters minimizes the glare in the surrounding making the cloud more clear and significant.
- Controlling the shutter speed gives a lesser exposure which gives the cloud a better grain and hold.
